Busy Hands

25 Oct

Although I haven’t much energy, my hands have found plenty to keep busy with! When I came home, I had several purchases on eBay and Etsy to mail. That is when I realized my inventory is down again! I was looking forward to spending several weeks doing ‘fun’ projects before getting back to ‘work’! ūüôā¬† Oh, I don’t really mind crocheting hair nets at all, it’s just that doing the same thing over and over and over, gets a little old sometimes.

Between crocheting hair nets, though, I have snuck in some other projects. I have an afghan I¬†have been¬†working on. I tried to make a goal of doing 3 rows a day so it doesn’t take me a year to get it done! I have also started a new project on my new knitting loom, but I’ll wait to tell you about that til after the Christmas presents are given. ūüėȬ† The other day I also made a card for someone. It seems like such a little thing, but it’s so amazing how much energy those little things take, when you just have. no. energy.

Time seems to be moving rather slowly.¬† Looking back it seems I was in the hospital a long time.¬† It has some kind of dream quality where every day blended into the next.¬† Now it seems I have been home a long time.¬† Is it really just 7 days?¬† The days themselves don’t feel long though.¬† That is a blessing.¬† Until I get all my meds in, rest, eat, crochet a bit….¬† Not much time left.¬† Everything seems to take a long time since I have so little energy.¬† I am so thankful for the things I can do.¬† I thank the Lord for the ability to crochet and do other hand work even when I can’t do much else.

I have managed to list some items on eBay and Etsy again, too. Yesterday I listed this set of 3 hair nets on eBay and I hope to get it on Etsy soon, too.¬† There is one Burgundy, one gray, and one white.¬† As always, you save a bit of money by buying a set of 3! ūüôā

New Hair Net Listing

6 Sep

I created a new listing for my large hair nets on eBay. After getting several requests from customers about other colors and/or quantities, I wondered how many customers didn’t buy because they didn’t want to bother with a special request.¬† Now it is very simple to order your large hairnet through¬†a fixed price listing offering¬†the choice of net style or flower style. You can¬†also¬†choose from one of the basic colors: black, brown,¬†natural, and white.¬† I will still continue to list auctions for the large style, to gain more exposure.

Check out the new listing here!

Talents

4 Sep

I have crocheted so many hair nets sometimes I seldom think of it as anything special. Anyone could do the same.

Today I saw someone on eBay left this comment in my feedback: praise God for your talent.

That simple statement made me stop and think awhile. Actually I thought about it several times today.

It was a great reminder to me to remember that anything I can do is a talent from God and I should always praise and thank Him for it!

Thank-you to my customer who gave me this reminder! (even if unintended)

Lightbox!

24 Aug

One of the most important elements of my sales both on Etsy and eBay is my pictures. Ever since I found out what a light box is, I have wanted one! Mom & I did some research online and decided we could make one. We finally got¬†to it last week. Mom took a cardboard box and cut the sides out of it. We covered them with tissue paper and put poster board inside for the back and bottom of the picture. I forgot to take a picture of the finished product, but here is a shot of the cutting.¬† We had some difficulty coming up with lights. I put one on each side and a brighter one at the top. It seemed to work pretty well, but when I looked at the pics on the computer they have a sort of red tint. One of my lights has a red shade, which I thought may be the problem, but also all of the pictures I took were red items? So I have to keep experimenting! I think the best pictures are still better than the old ones I was taking, so that’s an encouragement!¬† My first light box picture. This one is a bit better, I think:¬† Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I’d love to hear your ideas! Once we find a good place to set it up in our *small* house, I¬†will try to post more pictures of the actual light box.

Buttoned Hanging Hand Towels

16 Aug

The Buttoned Hanging Hand Towels¬† in my etsy.com¬†shop are very practical items. Everyone needs a towel, right? ūüôā And even better it’s buttoned into place so it can fall on the floor every time you dry your hands!

I currently have 10 towels listed and hope to do more soon. I have been experimenting with different colors, ect. Trying to think outside of the box! When I think about making things, I almost always think of things I would like. Of course not everyone likes the same things as me, so the challenge is to imagine what other people would like.¬†A good example is the brown & pink towel in this picture. I don’t¬†like paisleys! But I thought someone else might… so here goes! ūüôā

If you prefer a more feminine looking kitchen, I have a pretty floral or a purple butterfly towel.

I was looking back in my blog history and found my first towels I posted! They have come a long way since then! That is part of the challenge (fun), though. Always improving and learning how to do better. Customer satisfaction is top priority!

New Gift Bags

12 Jul

I used to make gift bags from fabric scraps we had laying around here and people gave me, like this. That is fine with me, but they weren’t selling very good, at least not very fast! :/ I then went off to JoAnns and bought me some fabrics that I thought looked a bit more stylish. ūüėČ Those aren’t selling that fast either. …

I did sell two of the pink polka dot ones!

¬†I can’t decide which is my favorite; I love them all!

This picture makes the brown & blue bags look really nice, I think! Wouldn’t that be fun to be having a party and line up all the bags like this!

What fun you could have¬†packing all your small things in pretty¬†pink bags to put in your suitcase! I forgot to take a picture of the suitcase¬†so these are just sitting here ready to go in. ūüôā

If you aren’t having a party or traveling you can use this lime green¬†drawstring¬†bag for a¬†cute purse on¬†your shopping trip!

The lavender stripe bag is perfect for storing little projects.

Visit my etsy shop for more info on these bags and others! Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas in July

9 Jul

I made a coupon code to use as a Christmas in July sale, but in the meantime someone in an Etsy team suggested using this website to run sales:

https://www.etsyonsale.com/sellers?referralCode=NXMHZEYBVN

I checked it out and I am so glad I did! It was super easy to make a sale, and mark every item through their program instead of going through and doing it manually. It’s a site that allows you to easily run a sale in your Etsy shop, change tags for items all at once, and auto renew items on a schedule you set.¬† You can watch the demo video at the link above.¬† Plus, if you login and link up your Etsy shop you will get a total of $10 in free credits to use.

So right now every item in my shop is on sale! I have been adding 1 or 2 items almost every day so go check it out and see if there is anything just right for you.

Happy Shopping!

Sales! Yay!!

25 Apr

I have been excited this weekend because I got some good sales! Yay!! That is always exciting. Someone bought a bunch of my gift bags on etsy.com and I sold some hairnets on www.ebay.com! I hope they keep rolling in, but you never know!

Treasuries

16 Apr

Recently two of my items were featured in treasuries on Etsy. I also managed to make a treasury myself. It takes me forever to do them so I’m not sure if it’s worth it sometimes.

Lovely as a Rose

14 Jul

I made an Etsy¬†treasury list¬†today! It took a long time, but it turned out pretty. It took longer because about halfway through I lost it and had to start over! ūüė¶¬†

Wish I could crochet such beautiful stuff! ūüôā

Handmade Girl’s 5T Pink Jumper Dress Amish Mennonite

11 Jul

¬†Handmade Girl’s 5T Pink Jumper Dress Amish Mennonite

I renewed the auction for this jumper on eBay¬†today. I have actually had it on eBay for quite a while. That’s why I don’t make dresses to sell anymore; it takes them ‘forever’ if ever to sell. The occasional one that I do try to sell, I make a size that someone in my family can wear if it doesn’t sell. There’s always someone else I can give it to, also.

This particular Jumper is made of 100% cotton and a very simple, cute  pattern. It would look great with a white blouse.

HERE ARE THE FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:

Top of shoulder¬†to waist: 11″

Shoulder to bottom of hem: 33 1/4″

waist: 26″

back opening: invisible zipper

sleeve: sleeveless

Hair Net / Bun Cover Pictures

7 Jul

A couple of weeks ago someone asked me for pictures of the hair nets actually modeled on hair. These pictures are the result! I asked my sisters to take pictures of their girls wearing the bun covers. (I don’t think the girls were too impressed). Thanks, ladies! ¬†I couldn’t decide which pictures to use because they are all so cute so here is almost all¬†of them! ūüôā It’s kinda scary how it makes the girls look so grown up! Am I getting old?!

As always you can find these hair nets / bun covers on both eBay and Etsy

Holiday & New eBay listings

4 Jul

Hello! I hope had a great weekend and are enjoying a¬†relaxing day! I had a nice weekend. Yesterday was a blessing to be in church and to fellowship with Christian friends. Last night we were also blessed with a wonderful rain shower!! We here in AZ love rain showers as they don’t come¬†very often. When¬†we saw it was probably going to rain, my brother and I took our hammocks out to the front¬†porch (it has a roof over it). It was so¬†much fun to¬†lay there and enjoy the rain and the lightening. It did¬†get really windy though and we came running in when we started getting soaked! I¬†realize though that many parts of the¬†US¬†won’t call a rain shower a¬†blessing as they have ‘too much’ water. ¬†

I didn’t do anything to celebrate the holiday today, but I did have fun working on different projects around the house in a relaxed frame of mind. Unfortunately, I didn’t get my projects done, so I can’t really say I did much! I cut out a bag I’ve been wanting to make. Actually, I cut out a practice, because I don’t want to use the material I have picked out until I know if my idea is going to work.

I have really been into bags lately. I made one for my sister-in-law for her baby shower. I planned to do a game involving a diaper bag, however I had no diaper bag to use!! So I quickly threw together a simple bag here about the day before the party. Then I made her little girl a matching one for her 5th birthday. Sorry I don’t have pictures to show you. I will take pictures of this one I am making now, if it turns out ok. ūüôā

When I was done with that, I sat down at my sewing machine for about 2 minutes and decided I didn’t feel like sewing. Does that ever happen to you??! Hmmm. Now to come up with another project….

Someone told me recently I should¬†crochet baby blankets. I don’t know about that as I haven’t done too well with afghans. But that is what I started this afternoon. I have 3 or so rows done and it is going very well. The pattern I decided on though has quite a few ‘holes’ in it for the poor baby to get his fingers caught in so it might just turn into a wrap or lap robe of some kind. I am using small yarn: baby weight or sport weight¬†whatever it’s called. And a large hook: size I. So hopefully it won’t take too long to get it done!

Tomorrow I will probably go back to normal projects again. It has been fun though to spend a day doing out of the ordinary things.

One of the ordinary things I did do was get more listings on eBay. You can see them here.

I¬†also have¬†hair nets¬†available¬†in the traditional net style. They are the same size as the flower style and they have the same style elastic in the back. Large Black and White Hairnets

28 Jun

I got the large black flower style hair net/bun cover listed in my Etsy shop yesterday. I was feeling kind of out-of-it so I didn’t get much listed this week yet. I got the large white flower hair net listed this morning. This is now¬†all the colors in this style I have available.¬†The others were the brown and light brown.

If you have long and or thick hair and need a hair net with plenty of room, these large nets would be just the thing!

History Part 2

27 Jun

If you missed part one you can read it here.

Here is some more of my story. Maybe it will give you a more rounded view of what I am like. I don’t usually sit around crocheting all day. I couldn’t do that if I wanted to because my hands would be sleeping by then. So here are some more of my hobbies.

My other interests include sewing. Most of the sewing I do is for family and friends, but I have occasionally sold some finished products. I used to sell dresses through http://www.modesthandmaidens.com/ but I have discontinued that. I also sold some cloth bags on eBay. That is still in the back of my mind to try that again… Maybe someday!

Another interest I have developed in the last few years is photography. I love to take photos, mostly of nature, and use those photos to make beautiful, inspirational cards. I am just learning in that area so please be patient with me!

Those who know me, know my favorite hobby is reading so don‚Äôt be surprised if some ‚ÄúBooks‚ÄĚ or ‚ÄúReading‚ÄĚ posts show up on my blog although it really has little to do with my other hobbies and activities. I do use reading to de-stress sometimes, though!

Part of what has shaped my life and perhaps caused me to enjoy these hobbies and activities is my health. I have had chronic respiratory illness most of my life. I am thankful for all the support my wonderful family and friends have shown me. Thank-you for always being there for me!!

I don’t want to draw unneccessary attention to my health, or turn this blog into a pity party, but as this is a big issue in my life, I am sure I will refer to it from time to time. I do enjoy comparing notes with others and getting ideas from different sources.
